Actress Kate Hudson will release her debut album, “Glorious,” on May 17. Hudson told Rolling Stone she has been hesitant to release music as actors generally face an uphill battle with being accepted by the public in other ventures.
“People in the industry would say, ‘Let’s make a record,’” she revealed. “‘Let’s do this. Let’s do that.’ And I always felt not ready. I don’t know why that was my response. Something was stopping me, and I wasn’t reflective enough at the time to really think about it — until I got older, and I was like, ‘Why am I so hesitant with something I love more than anything?’”
“When I knew it was done and everything was mastered and I was signing off on it, it was like giving birth to a baby — it really felt that way,” she continued. “I was incredibly emotional. But what was interesting was that I didn’t have any fear.”
Hudson appeared on The Howard Stern Show earlier this week and performed three songs including an original, “Gonna Find Out.” She also covered the ’Til Tuesday hit “Voices Carry” and the Stone Temple Pilots classic “Vasoline.” The latter is a little jazzier than the original, but Hudson clearly has good singing chops. Her original also sounds a little reminiscent of The Rolling Stones and her ex-boyfriend Chris Robinson’s band, The Black Crowes.
