Jon Moxley’s Grand Slam Injury Prevented Non-AEW Wrestler Making Post-Match Appearance

Jon Moxley unfortunately suffered a concussion during last week’s Grand Slam episode of Dynamite during his International Championship title defense against Rey Fenix. This resulted in him calling an audible and changing the finish, so Fenix went over and became champion. And now it has been reported by Fightful Select that Moxley’s injury also prevented a non-AEW contracted talent from making a post-match appearance, with the unnamed wrestler meant to challenge him for a match at WrestleDream.

“Fightful has learned that originally, a non-AEW wrestler was supposed to come out on AEW Dynamite and challenge Jon Moxley for WrestleDream. However, when the match result changed, so did the plan to come out and make a challenge. We haven’t learned who it was.”

Who was going to challenge Moxley for a match at WrestleDream is now a hot topic of conversation on social media, with a string of New Japan names being suggested. However, with New Japan running a series of shows this week, many of their biggest names are unavailable. Still, given that things like this have a way of getting out, fans will inevitably find out who Moxley’s opponent was going to be at some point.
