For many, Jim Ross is and forever will be the voice of pro wrestling, and since April 2019, he has been signed with All Elite Wrestling. And while his status was significant in helping establish AEW as an alternative to WWE, with him turning 70 earlier this year, it had been speculated his time in the spotlight was coming to an end. Now though, Jim Ross has silenced his doubters, as during his Grilling JR podcast, he revealed he recently signed a new contract that will keep him with AEW until late 2024.
After tragically losing his wife in 2017 and then departing WWE in 2019 due to Vince McMahon no longer seeing him capable of being a commentator, Ross has publicly acknowledged Tony Khan as saving his life. And while Ross’ work hasn’t been flawless in AEW, his popularity remains, and he undoubtedly still has plenty to offer the industry, both in front and behind the camera.
