Randy Savage is considered one of the biggest pro wrestling stars ever, having been a main eventer in both WWE and WCW. Still, he was known for being erratic, and his treatment of his former wife, Miss Elizabeth, has been called into question. And now, during an episode of his popular podcast, Jim Ross has revealed he felt the WWE Hall of Famer was going to assault him during their time working together in the 90s. However, thankfully, Gorilla Monsoon was there, so things didn’t get physical.
“I want to make that very clear he was a legitimate superstar, but he could also be a prick, and I hate to say that about the dead, but he was not a real good guy at times, and he cornered me at the TV studio because of something I allegedly said on an interview … so he cornered me at the TV studio and read me the riot act and all of a sudden it’s like this big shadow overcame both of us and it was Gorilla and so the confrontation if you want to use that term came to an end at that moment because of Monsoon’s size, and he was unintimidatable and he could handle himself he was a great amateur wrestler at Ithaca College, and like I said he bailed me out in that in that particular moment because I’m sure Savages are going to take a shot at me and and and knock me out or bust me up or what have you because that’s where it was leading to.”
Jim RossSavage, real name Randy Poffo, was a second-generation wrestler who embraced the business after initially being a minor league baseball player. Initially, he would be a territory wrestler before joining Vince McMahon’s WWF in 1985, becoming one of the biggest stars of that era. Still, after nine years, he departed the company to join their rivals, WCW, in 1994 and remained with the promotion until McMahon’s purchase. And while he would wrestle one match for TNA in 2004, he mainly stayed out of the limelight up until he died in 2011 at the age of just 58.
