On Friday, Vince McMahon took to social media platform X to declare “The case is closed. Today ends nearly three years of investigation by different governmental agencies.” Yet while this is regarding inaccurate SEC filings relating to hush money payments in which he has agreed to pay a $400,000 civil penalty and reimburse WWE almost $1.4 million, many have jumped to the gun and assumed this is also connected to Janel Grant’s lawsuit.
And now clarifying this, Grant’s lawyer, Ann Callis, has issued a statement to multiple news outlets, confirming their lawsuit remains ongoing and noting that prosecutors are also continuing their criminal investigation.
During his time leading WWE, Vince McMahon acted as if rules did not apply to him, and now we have confirmation that he repeatedly broke the law to cover up his horrifying behavior, including human trafficking. The SEC’s charges prove that the NDA Vince McMahon coerced Ms. Grant into signing violates the law, and therefore her case must be heard in court. While prosecutors for the Southern District of New York continue their criminal investigation, we look forward to bringing forward new evidence in our civil case about the sexual exploitation Ms. Grant endured at WWE by Vince McMahon and John Laurinaitis.
Ann CallisWhile McMahon will likely never be involved in the pro wrestling busiation.ness again, it has been reported that he is in the process of launching what is described as an “entertainment hub” to produce movies and television shows in California. However, as McMahon’s ventures outside of pro wrestling, like the XFL, WBF, and WWE Studios, have all flopped, many people are questioning whether his upcoming venture will be successful, especially given his tarnished reputation.
