Jake Roberts Calls AEW A Wonderful Place To Work Following His Health Issues

In 2020 Jake “The Snake” Roberts was hospitalized with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, which affects the lungs. And subsequently, fans spotted him in a wheelchair, receiving oxygen through a tube. Thankfully now, though, he is doing much better and has gone on record in a recent interview saying AEW is a “wonderful” place to work and calling Tony Khan one of the best men I’ve ever met for standing by him.

I was still trying to carry on, you know, having to use the machine (oxygen tank), but I was wanting to carry on with it, but they didn’t want me to go out to the ring with that. That was the whole thing, and I respect them for that. It’s not like they sh*t canned me and told me to take a hike. They still took care of me, and AEW is just wonderful to work for. They really, really are, and Tony Khan is one of the best men I’ve ever met.

The WWE Hall of Famer debuted for AEW during their The Road to All Out special in 2019. He’d then appear on the March 4th, 2020, episode of Dynamite confronting Cody Rhodes. Initially, he was on a short-term deal that kept being extended, but Tony Khan was so happy with his work that he signed him to a multi-year contract. Sadly Roberts’ breathing mentioned above and hip issues have since restricted his television time. Nevertheless, his health obviously comes first, and he still has time to become a regular on-screen character before his deal expires in July 2023.
