Earlier this month, Iron Maiden vocalist Bruce Dickinson told The Telegraph what he thought about the band not being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame.

Iron Maiden was nominated for the second time this year but were again passed up for induction. The snub angered numerous hard rock and metal fans who continue to state the case for their favorite artists and the lack of representation from the Rock Hall.

“I don’t want to be in the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame,” Dickinson said. “Because we’re not dead yet.”

“Some people feel almost actively threatened by metal. Not by the nature of the music. But by the fact that it doesn’t conform to their worldview of what pop music should be, which is: pop music is disposable, darling. Well, we don’t make disposable pop music.”

In a new interview with Metal Hammer, Maiden bassist and band co-founder Steve Harris also discussed Maiden’s omission.

“I’ve never been worried about it,” he said. “I’m not one way or the other. I’m not really against it or anything like that, but, you know, if people get recognized there, that’s fine. But I’ve never been bothered with it.”

Harris went on: “We’ve never done music to be in some Hall Of Fame or whatever. And also if it was a thing that was voted by fans, that’d be okay. But the way it works, it doesn’t matter how many fans vote, it only counts as one vote. So it doesn’t really represent anything. I don’t know how I’d feel about it if we did actually get in.”

Numerous hard rock and heavy metal artists didn’t even make the nominations list earlier this year. Notable snubs included: Foreigner, Motörhead, Styx, Boston, Thin Lizzy, REO Speedwagon, Pantera, Ronnie James Dio, Motley Crue, Jethro Tull, Sammy Hagar, MC5, J. Geils Band, Eddie Money, Danzig (and/or Misfits), Alice In Chains and Smashing Pumpkins, among others.
