Pollstar recently released its Top 10 Worldwide Top Touring Artists list, and there’s a few more rock artists on there than you might think. Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band grossed $251 million to come in at No. 5 (44 shows). The Rolling Stones weren’t far behind at No. 6 with a gross of $235 million having done just 18 shows.

Heavy metal kings Metallica also made the list at No. 9 grossing $179 million (24 shows). Metallica’s average ticket price came in at $119.64 per. A ticket to The Rolling Stones set people back an average of $277.28 a ticket, while Springsteen’s average single admission price was $150.69.

Tops on the list, unsurprisingly was pop queen Taylor Swift who pulled in $1.043 billion through 80 shows with an average ticket price of $200.77.

Pollstar wrote: “While over the past two years great praise and superlatives were rightfully bestowed upon Taylor Swift and her “Eras Tour,” it is difficult to grasp just how momentous her record-smashing tour is and how much it’s impacted the concert industry and the many ancillary revenues associated with the tour. Aside from the astronomical numbers – topping $1 billion in grosses in back-to-back years – selling more than 10 million tickets – the 35-year-old singer-songwriter and cultural icon was a primary force behind the $9 billion box-office bonanza accumulated in each of the past two years. After all, her tour’s 2024 gross represents almost 11 percent of the overall gross for the top 100 artists. And she had the same effect last year. Her 2023 gross was even more than 11 percent of the final 100-tour gross.”
