In sad news, a GoFundMe has been launched by the family of Samula Anoaʻi, better known to fans as Headshrinker Samu or simply Samu. Apparently, the former WWE Tag Team Champion is still having health issues despite having a successful liver transplant in 2019 and now needs $60,000 so he can cover the costs of open-heart surgery, which includes having a double bypass.
61-year-old Anoaʻi began wrestling when he was 14, thanks to being the son of WWE Hall of Famer Afa Anoaʻi, and subsequntly went on to work for the AWA, New Japan, ECW, and WCW. However, he is likely best remembered nowadays for his tag team run in the WWE alongside Fatu, now known as Rikishi, in the mid-1990s. Still, even away from the ring, he also made a significant contribution to the business, having been involved in the Wild Samoan Pro Wrestling Training Center and also being the father of current NXT-signed wrestler Lance Anoa’i.
