Matt Rehwoldt, who is still best known to pro wrestling fans for his run in WWE as Aiden English, has announced on Twitter that he is taking no more bookings to wrestle going forward. Most recently, he had been wrestling for Impact Wrestling. However, he has also been working for various promotions on commentary and now sees his future in that capacity. Additionally, he would add he is currently a free agent, making it known he is available for various types of mic work.
The 34-year-old spent eight years with WWE and was initially known for The Vaudevillains tag team with Simon Gotch. Yet, when the company released Gotch in 2017, English would be put alongside Rusev, and thanks to “Rusev Day,” they’d become a popular double act. However, in typical WWE fashion, the company would break them up without a clear direction for either, and English went on to work behind the announce desk before being released in April 2020.
Since then, he has become a regular part of Impact Wrestling and NJPW Strong, both in the ring and behind the announce table. And most recently, he was meant to commentate on the Authors of Pain’s new promotion’s first show in the UK but would end up being ghosted, with the show ultimately being canceled.
