Bishop Dyer, formerly known as Baron Corbin in WWE, made his AEW debut in a pre-show dark match before this week’s Dynamite in Orlando, Florida. The former United States Champion teamed with Hadar Horvitz, Ori Gold, and Martin Stone in an eight-man tag team bout, putting over Billy Gunn, Austin Gunn, Brady Booker, and Elijah Drago. Whether AEW is considering signing the 41-year-old full-time is unclear, but, as he is currently one-half of the MLW World Tag Team Champions with Donovan Dijak, he likely has at least a short-term deal with them at present.
Dyer, real name Thomas Pestock, joined WWE after a brief NFL career playing for the Indianapolis Colts and Arizona Cardinals. First debuting in NXT, he rose to fame as the “Lone Wolf,” and on the main roster, he appeared to be one of Vince McMahon’s favorites as he was frequently pushed. However, despite multiple gimmick changes over the years, including Constable Corbin, King Corbin, and Happy Corbin, he never reached main-event status in the eyes of fans and departed the company in late 2024.
