Former WCW Luchador Suffers Heart Attack

In worrying news, Bestia 666 has shared on Facebook that his father and fellow luchador, Damián 666, has suffered a heart attack. The 62-year-old cruiserweight, who is best known to North American fans for his time in WCW, has subsequently undergone surgery, and his sons are awaiting an update. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this distressing time.

“Good afternoon everyone, I want to inform family, friends and fans that my father @damian666tj had a heart attack, and it was necessary to undergo a “Hemodynamia” operation. At this moment he is stable and recovered. Tomorrow me and my siblings will get the report to see how it progresses. We have a lot of faith that everything will be well with the favor of God to release as soon as possible.”

Damián 666, real name Leonardo Carrera Gómez, broke into the business in the mid-80s and made his name in FMW and AAA before working in the States, first with ECW in 1996 and then WCW between 1997 and 1999. In WCW, he would actually wrestle as both “Damian” and “Galaxy,” but it was never acknowledged that he was the same person. Additionally, he was part of Eddie Guerrero’s original version of the Latino World Order alongside names like Héctor Garza, La Parka, and Psychosis.
