Rich Swann was arrested back in June 2024 for disorderly public intoxication and causing a disturbance. According to the police report that had been uncovered, the former TNA World Heavyweight Champion had attempted to enter an apartment forcefully and later caused a woman distress by following her.
Police would subsequently arrest Swann, claiming he smelt of booze and his speech was slurred, resulting in him being fined and put on probation for a period of six months. And now, as many expected, Fightful Select has reported that TNA chose not to pick up the additional option year on the 34-year-old’s contract, officially making him a free agent.
Swann previously looked set for big things when he signed with WWE in 2015, although after he was arrested for domestic violence against his wife and fellow wrestler Su Yung, he exited the company by mutual agreement. Still, despite his reputation being tarnished, after the charges were dropped due to insufficient evidence, he began wrestling for TNA and was pushed as a star.
