Multiple sources have reported that Evil has recently given notice to New Japan Pro-Wrestling, suggesting he is seeking fresh opportunities elsewhere. And now, during Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez has stated that the IWGP Heavyweight Champion is potentially heading to WWE. No further details have been confirmed yet, but given WWE’s tremendous success with Japanese talents like Asuka, Kairi Sane, and Iyo Sky, with whom he was previously engaged, it makes sense.
38-year-old EVIL, real name Takaaki Watanabe, debuted in New Japan Pro-Wrestling in 2011 as a Young Lion and, following a US excursion, returned rebranded as EVIL, joining Los Ingobernables de Japón alongside Tetsuya Naito. Subsequently, he became a singles force, winning the NEVER Openweight Championship four times and the IWGP Heavyweight and Intercontinental Championships in 2020. Then, after turning heel to join the BC stable, he founded the dominant House of Torture heel group.
