The Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concert earlier this month was a mostly joyous yet emotional celebration of the late Foo Fighters drummer.  The band hosted the first of two tribute shows to Hawkins at Wembley Stadium in London. The star-studded affair featured Metallica’s Lars Ulrich and AC/DC’s Brian Johnson joining the Foo Fighters on stage to perform AC/DC classics “Back In Black” and “Let There Be Rock.”

The show also featured performances by Paul McCartney, Rush’s Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson, Travis Barker, Them Crooked Vultures, The James Gang, Wolfgang Van Halen, Brian May and Roger Taylor of Queen, Justin Hawkins, Stewart Copeland, Chrissie Hynde and many more, and the second tribute concert was scheduled to take place Tuesday, Sept. 27 in Los Angeles.

Following many guest spots, the Foo Fighters took the stage to perform their own songs for the first time since Hawkins’ passing. Dave Grohl tearfully began the song “Times Like These,” and the singer paused briefly as his voice cracked. The audience cheered him through the difficult moment, and soon after the band rocked out to the tune. A cast of rotating drummers including Josh Freese, Travis Barker, Nandi Bushnell, Rufus Tiger Taylor, Omar Hakims and lastly, Hawkins’ son Shane who played on “My Hero.”

In a new interview with The Plug With Justin Jay, Foo Fighters guitarist Chris Shiflett talked about the band’s future and the possibly of recording a new album at some point. “Most people that I’ve encountered have been respectful about it or try to avoid it,” said the guitarist about how he’s been approached by interviewers regarding Hawkins’ passing.

“It probably will be [more of a thing] when we ever get around to putting out another Foo Fighters record and go back into the promo boogie woogie. I remember that when I joined Foo Fighters, it was 1999 so it was a while after Kurt Cobain had died but I would watch interviewers twist themselves in knots trying to ask Dave [Grohl] about it but not ask. I would think it would turn into that kinda thing.”

Shifflett also lashed out at some people who have crossed the line in what they’ve reported regarding Hawkins’ passing. “Taylor was this big character and he meant a lot to millions of people so I get that fascination with [his death] but so much of what I’ve seen out there is so completely wrong,” Shiflett said. “There’s people out there saying sh*t like Dave killed Taylor by making him get the C*VID vaccine. You’re going to turn it into that? F*ck you. I try not to pay attention to it but it does make you angry because that sh*t is just disrespectful.”

Tuesday night’s guest list for the Los Angeles tribute show includes: Sebastian Bach, Travis Barker, Tommy Brenneck, Geezer Butler, Matt Cameron, Danny Carey, Chris Chaney, Chevy Metal, Phil Collen, Stewart Copeland, Miley Cyrus, Jon “Juano” Davison, Elliot Easton, Joe Elliot, Josh, Freese, Violet Grohl, Omar Hakim, Justin Hawkins, Shane Hawkins, Josh Homme, James Gang, Joan Jett, Alain Johannes, John Paul Jones, Kesha, Mark King, Greg Kurstin, Geddy Lee, Tommy Lee, Alex Lifeson, Brian May, Taylor Momsen, Alanis Morissette, Krist Novoselic, P!nk, Mark Ronson, Rick Savage, Nikki Sixx, Chad Smith, Luke Spiller, Roger Taylor, Rufus Taylor, Kim Thayil, Jon Theodore, Lars Ulrich, Wolfgang Van Halen, Brad Wilk, Nancy Wilson, Patrick Wilson, Nate Wood and Andrew Wyatt.
