Saturday night’s “Back To The Beginning” celebration marking the farewell of Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne was a huge success. Several elite players from the rock world paid tribute to heavy metal’s founding fathers, and the show featured a slew of highly emotional moments. Five of the most touching scenes from and surrounding the show are highlighted below.

Ozzy is elated

Clearly “The Prince Of Darkness” was thrilled to be back on the stage following such a long hiatus due to health issues in recent years. He told the crowd: “It’s so good to be on this stage… You have no idea how I feel. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

Tearful reactions to “Mama I’m Coming Home”

One of the songs Ozzy performed as part of his solo set was his 1991 hit, “Mama I’m Coming Home.” Ironically the song from the highly successful “No More Tears” album probably drew the most tears from the audience out of any tune in the set.

Jack Osbourne pays tribute to his father

Ozzy and Sharon’s son Jack posted via social media following the show. The caption read: “For everything I learned along the way…The final Goodnight We Love You All” and was accompanied with a touching video featuring a young Jack learning from his dad how to say goodnight and thank you to the audience.

Ozzy and Sharon’s daughter Kelly gets engaged

Kelly Osbourne has long been dating Slipknot’s Sid Wilson. The two welcomed their first child in 2022, have known one another for more than 20 years and are now going to tie the knot. Sid proposed to Kelly backstage in front of both Sharon and Ozzy, to which she said yes.

Sabbath members say one last thank you to the audience and to Ozzy

In perhaps the most bittersweet moment of the night, following their final song “Paranoid,” Black Sabbath received a huge ovation from the audience. Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward also paid thanks to Ozzy on stage even presenting him a cake after the livestream went off the air. A message from the band also flashed on the giant stage screens, “Thank you for everything, you guys are f*cking amazing.”
