Earlier this year, Mötley Crüe went through quite a back-and-forth with their now ex-guitarist Mick Mars, who sued the band after he said he was forced out of the group he helped co-found.

Former Mötley Crüe singer John Corabi has weighed in a few times on the situation. Before the lawsuit shed light on what was happening, Corabi said he didn’t believe Mötley Crüe’s original statement about Mars retiring for health reasons was totally accurate.

“Just looking at things the way I look at ’em and I can’t help but think that they just went for the upgrade — in their minds,” Corabi said at the time. “I don’t totally believe Mick’s reasons for leaving Mötley. And I don’t even know if he left Mötley. I believe maybe he was shown the door.”

In a new interview with We Go to 11, Corabi was asked if he had been in contact with Mars since the lawsuit.

“Well, we didn’t ‘talk talk’; we were corresponding via text,” Corabi said.

“I don’t wanna get into their business ’cause it always seems to end up as clickbait somewhere. But this is playing out exactly how I thought it would. And right now, from what I can gather, Mick is p*ssed. I don’t know if he’s rightly p*ssed or wrongly p*ssed, but he’s p*ssed. And we’ll just leave it at that. That’s something that they’ll sort through and figure out. And hopefully they can bury the hatchet. But who knows, dude?”

In his lawsuit, Mars said he made it clear he could still record with the band and do limited performances despite his health struggles. His lawsuit alleges that Mötley Crüe cut his percentage of profits from 25% to 5% after he announced he was retiring from regular touring. He also said that the band’s lawyers made him feel that he should be grateful for that 5%, because the band felt they didn’t owe him anything.

Mars also said there was a band meeting where the rest of the group decided to “unilaterally” remove him from Mötley Crüe.

Mars also accused Sixx of “gaslighting” him about his guitar skills diminishing, and he countered that Sixx didn’t “play a single note on bass” during last year’s Stadium Tour.
