Former AC/DC bassist Mark Evans played with the group from 1975 to 1977 appearing on several of the band’s classic albums including “High Voltage,” “TNT,” “Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap” and “Let There Be Rock.” Evans was fired from the band in 1977 and replaced by Cliff Williams who remained with the group until his retirement just prior to the band’s current “Power Up” world tour.

Evans was recently interviewed by ABC News In-depth to discuss AC/DC’s first Australian tour in a decade. Speaking about band co-founder and guitarist Angus Young, Evans said:

“Let’s not forget, he’s the only person on the face of the earth that’s been to every AC/DC gig. He’s been there for every one of them. And there’s been some really, really tough times for him.”

Evans also talked about his dismissal and the reason behind it. “The separation was difficult,” Evans recalled. “I was the right guy for the band when I started. Looking back, there’s only one reason I didn’t continue on with the band, is ’cause I didn’t take it seriously enough. It all happened so easily that I probably didn’t give it its correct weight.”
