There was some controversy last year when it was revealed that Dolly Parton would be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Parton initially declined the invite saying she didn’t think she was rock enough to be included.

Judas Priest singer Rob Halford said he had no issues with her inclusion.

“If you look at everyone in the Hall, it makes perfect sense to have Dolly Parton in there,” he told Rolling Stone. “I think it’s just this ‘rock and roll’ thing. Should it be called the Music Hall Of Fame? I don’t know. It started out with rock and roll, and roll and roll is everything and anything. It’s just a phraseology.

Parton previously said she was planning to do a rock album, and she revealed more details about the record in a new interview with “The View.” The album, titled “Rock Star,” will feature covers of classic songs including “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction” by The Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway To Heaven.”

“If I’m going to be in the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, I better do something to earn it,” she said. “So I’m doing a rock ‘n’ roll album and I’m having a lot of the rock stars that I met that night be on the album with me.”

“The View” co-host Joy Behar asked Parton if Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger will be featured on her cover of “Satisfaction.” Parton replied: “I’m doin’ my best to try to get him on, but I did his song anyway. I think Pink and Brandi Carlile are gonna be singing on that particular song with me.”

“We’ve got great artists like Paul McCartney singing with me. Stevie Nicks, we just finished our song last night.” Parton also revealed that John Fogerty, Steve Perry and Steven Tyler will also join her on the album.

“We got a lot of iconic singers that are going to be on with us. So I’m looking forward to it,” she said. “I’m even going to have Cher on. I’ve been getting a song for her. We’ve been trying to get the right thing together but that’s going to be a big thrill.”

Parton previously said she would like Elton John to also appear, and she hoped to reunite Led Zeppelin’s Jimmy Page and Robert Plant on the album.
