Saturday’s “Back To The Beginning” show celebrating the legacy of metal icons Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne was by all accounts a huge success. A who’s who of heavy metal performers paid tribute the genre’s forefathers before Ozzy and Sabbath themselves closed out the show capping a highly emotional concert.

One of the special guests was Disturbed frontman David Draiman who sang Ozzy’s “Shot In The Dark” and Sabbath’s “Sweet Leaf” as part of one of the bill’s supergroups. Draiman, who is of Jewish descent, was met with a few boos from the crowd likely stemming from his outspoken support of Israel via his social media.

A few headlines suggested Draiman was “booed off the stage” but that was hardly the case, and the singer addressed his reception via Instagram writing: “As you can see…I wasn’t ‘booed off stage’ as so many people in the press and CERTAINLY #FreePalestine crowd, would have you believe.” He then provided a Facebook link to a clip of him taking the stage and performing. He added via Facebook: “Yes, there were a few boos when I walked out, but I came to pay homage to my teachers, my idols, the mighty Black Sabbath, and I wasn’t about to let a few Jew hating morons deter that.”
