Diehard WWE Fans Aren’t Happy With Will Ospreay’s Latest Comments

When Will Ospreay had to decide between WWE and AEW, he opted to become All Elite, feeling that Tony Khan’s promotion was a better fit for him. Of course, the fact that he got more money for fewer dates played a part, but it’s understood that AEW was always his preferred destination. And now, during an interview with DailyStar.co.uk, the British wrestler has revealed that while he respects the company and their performers, he was “never a WWE guy.” Additionally, he would add, “On my worst day, I think I’m better than a lot of their guys,” which has obviously led to much debate online, with diehard WWE fans not agreeing.

“I was never a WWE guy. I respect it, and I respect the people doing it, the schedule is insane, and I commend them for it. I just don’t like the show. I don’t like the style of wrestling or the presentation. It has gotten better, love the one-shots they’ve been doing, but I’ve never been a big fan. Of course, I respect WWE and admire everyone there, but for me, there’s always been this little bit of rivalry where I’m like, ‘Yeah, you’re the biggest. You draw the biggest crowds. You’ve got the biggest deals.’ But the moment the bell rings, I think we’re better than all of them. Honestly, on my worst day, I think I’m better than a lot of their guys in-ring and on the mic.”Will Ospreay

32-year-old Ospreay first began wrestling for AEW in 2022 due to the promotion’s working relationship with New Japan, and thanks to his impressive matches, most assumed Khan would do whatever it took to sign him when the time came. Yet while it wouldn’t be until 2024 when he officially joined the AEW roster full-time, no time has been wasted when it comes to dream matches, with Khan having already booked him against Konosuke Takeshita, Bryan Danielson, PAC, MJF, and Swerve Strickland on pay-per-view.
