When Will Ospreay had to decide between WWE and AEW, he opted to become All Elite, feeling that Tony Khan’s promotion was a better fit for him. Of course, the fact that he got more money for fewer dates played a part, but it’s understood that AEW was always his preferred destination. And now, during an interview with DailyStar.co.uk, the British wrestler has revealed that while he respects the company and their performers, he was “never a WWE guy.” Additionally, he would add, “On my worst day, I think I’m better than a lot of their guys,” which has obviously led to much debate online, with diehard WWE fans not agreeing.
32-year-old Ospreay first began wrestling for AEW in 2022 due to the promotion’s working relationship with New Japan, and thanks to his impressive matches, most assumed Khan would do whatever it took to sign him when the time came. Yet while it wouldn’t be until 2024 when he officially joined the AEW roster full-time, no time has been wasted when it comes to dream matches, with Khan having already booked him against Konosuke Takeshita, Bryan Danielson, PAC, MJF, and Swerve Strickland on pay-per-view.
