Saraya made her AEW debut last week during the Grand Slam episode of Dynamite by saving her former WWE colleagues Toni Storm and Athena from Dr. Britt Baker, Jamie Hayter, and Serena Deeb. Subsequently, it was announced she had officially signed a contract, and while there had been a report questioning whether she had been medically cleared to compete, she seemingly disputed this. And now Fightful Select has followed up with additional information saying that it appears she will be wrestling based on how much she is being paid. Additionally, it was confirmed she’d signed a three-year deal, showing she will be part of AEW for some time.
Sources familiar with the situation tell Fightful Select that Saraya has agreed to a three-year contract with AEW. We are not sure if there are option years at play, as is often the case with AEW. However, we’re told for the amount of money it was signed for “largely implies that she’ll be wrestling in some capacity.” We haven’t been given any indication of whether or not she’s been cleared, but she is set to speak on AEW Dynamite tonight.
Fightful SelectSaraya last wrestled in December 2017, where she sadly suffered a broken neck house show six-women tag match. And while Sasha Banks would be slammed online by fans due to being the person who inflicted the injury, Saraya would defend her by saying it could have happened at any time due to the poor condition of her neck. WWE, though, did give her a new contract due to a combination of not wanting to see her join the just launched AEW and being part of Fox’s WWE Backstage show. Yet, with her not appearing on WWE television since March 2020, when her contract was expiring, it was decided against renewing it.
