Deonna Purrazzo says an asthma attack affected her heavily criticised 2024 CMLL match against La Catalina. The ROH Women’s Pure Champion disclosed the medical issue on X.com while responding to a fan who compared Eddie Kingston’s recent CMLL performance with her own match in Mexico. Purrazzo rejected the comparison and said she had been “punished” for the bout for two years. Her response offered context for a performance that has followed her since the event and remained a frequent point of criticism.
“You mean the “bad outing” where I had an asthma attack during the entire 15 min match? I’ve been punished for 2 years. Is that long enough for you?” –Deonna Purrazzo
Purrazzo has wrestled for WWE, TNA, AEW, ROH and numerous independent promotions, with her greatest championship success coming during multiple reigns as TNA Knockouts World Champion. She joined AEW in 2024 and initially appeared regularly before being used less often on its main television shows. Ring of Honor later gave her a more consistent role. Purrazzo currently holds the ROH Women’s Pure Championship and retained it against Steph De Lander at Death Before Dishonor at the event.
