David Arquette Officially Returning For ‘Scream 5’

We reported earlier this month that Neve Campbell is in talks to reprise her role as Sidney Prescott in Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett’s Scream 5, and now can confirm that David Arquette is officially onboard. He will reprise the character Sheriff Dewey Riley, which is his most famous role, and he played in all four previous movies in the series.

He would tell the Hollywood Reporter:

I am thrilled to be playing Dewey again and to reunite with my Scream family, old and new. Scream has been such a big part of my life, and for both the fans and myself, I look forward to honoring Wes Craven’s legacy.David Arquette

Outside of his movie and television roles, Arquette is well known to wrestling fans for unfathomably becoming the WCW Heavyweight Champion for 12 days in 2000. Somewhat surprisingly, Arquette is actually still involved in the wrestling world today, where he competes on the independent scene, with his last match being a tag team match teaming with RJ City defeating Joey Ryan and Colt Cabana January 1st, 2020.

With Scream 5 due to be released in 2021, we now just await news that Neve Campbell and Courtney Cox will be joining him for the fifth installment of the franchise.
