Dave Grohl Stars In Crown Royal Super Bowl Commercial

Last week it was announced that Ozzy Osbourne and Joan Jett would star in a new Super Bowl Commercial for Workday, a leading provider of enterprise cloud applications for finance and human resources.

Now another rocker, Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl, is set to appear in an ad for top-selling Canadian whiskey brand Crown Royal. Clips for the spot have already appeared on YouTube, and the full commercial will air in the third quarter of the Super Bowl set for Sunday, Feb. 12.

“Dave is a Crown Royal super fan and the perfect partner to spread a message of gratitude to the audience that is authentic to the brand,” said Sophie Kelly of global liquor producer, Diageo.

“[After] seeing the work come to life, we have some great content we will be sharing over the next couple of weeks, including a decision to up our Super Bowl commitment to running a:60 in-game.”

Crown Royal is one of the oldest whiskey makers in Canada. Grohl has also previously appeared in commercials for SiriusXM.

Last month, Foo Fighters announced their plans to continue while vowing to be a “different band” going forward. The band has been announced as a headline act for three different U.S. festivals with more dates on the way.

“As we say goodbye to the most difficult and tragic year that our band has ever known, we are reminded of how thankful we are for the people that we love and cherish most, and for the loved ones who are no longer with us,” the band’s statement read.

“Foo Fighters were formed 27 years ago to represent the healing power of music and a continuation of life. And for the past 27 years our fans have built a worldwide community, a devoted support system that has helped us all get through the darkest of times together. A place to share our joy and our pain, our hopes and fears, and to join in a chorus of life together through music. Without Taylor, we never would have become the band that we were — and without Taylor, we know that we’re going to be a different band going forward.

“We also know that you, the fans, meant as much to Taylor as he meant to you and we know that when we see you again — and we will soon — he’ll be there in spirit with all of us every night.”
