Two weeks ago, it was announced that The Dudley Boyz would reunite for the first time in several years when appearing together on a Battleground Championship Wrestling show at the ECW Arena scheduled for December. With D-Von in the corner of his longtime partner Bully Ray for his match with Matt Cardona. And while this might not be seen as that big of a deal, the fact D-Von had previously revealed they were no longer in touch due to Ray’s delay in signing a new WWE contract costing them their roster spot did make this newsworthy.
Despite this claim, Ray would remain silent on this, choosing to keep his private business just that. Finally, however, his then-girlfriend Velvet Sky would, in a now-deleted tweet, implying there was more to the situation, say, “Fiction can be fun…. lol if ya’ll only knew the truth. Cuz this ain’t it.” Now though, D-Von, who works as a producer for WWE, has commented further while appearing on A2TheK Wrestling Show, and this time played down the fact they fell out, claiming they just needed a break from each other.
A lot of people thought that me and Bubba were at odds, and we weren’t at odds. It was just that him and I needed a break. He and I were together for 20 years. I saw him more than I saw my first two wives, which wasn’t a bad idea, trust me. Sometimes, you just need a break, and that’s what we did. We took a break, and now we’re reunited again.
D-Von DudleyWhile it would be fantastic to see the duo compete as a team at least one more time, that seems impossible. As earlier this year, D-Von had his spine shifted and screws and a plate implanted in his back to repair the damage done by his career. Therefore making any chance of him bumping again appear impossible and likely even dangerous. Still, it’s at least good to see him and Ray working together again, and perhaps it will lead to future television appearances by the legendary tag team.
