Current Status Of Sammy Guevara’s AEW Suspension Confirmed

Sammy Guevara was suspended by AEW for not following concussion protocol in his Rampage match with Jeff Hardy in February. For those unaware, Hardy suffered a broken nose during their bout after Guevara accidentally landed on his face during a Shooting Star Press. Yet, despite being told to pin Hardy, Guevara hit his GTH finishing move instead. And now, Dave Meltzer, in his Wrestling Observer Newsletter, has confirmed that Guevara still remains suspended despite the incident having occurred over two months ago.

“Sammy Guevara is still suspended from AEW over the miscommunication during the match vs Jeff Hardy where he hit a GTH on an injured Hardy.”

It is believed that Hardy didn’t actually suffer a concussion following the scary collision, but as Guevara didn’t know this at the time, he was suspended for ignoring safety instructions. In fact, this is now the second time the AEW original has been suspended by the company, with him being sidelined for 30 days after his past unacceptable comments about new AEW signing Mercedes Moné went viral.
