Current AEW Star Will Soon Be Available To Download In WWE 2K Battlegrounds

WWE’s regular annual game was shelved this year because there were so many issues with the previous edition. Instead, WWE and 2K released an arcade-style game called WWE 2K BAttlegrounds on September 18. Reviews have been mixed, with critics saying the game is limited and repetitive, the characters having the same movesets, and a lack of wrestlers to use. 2K have been addressing the latter this through roster updates and have now announced there will be additional wrestlers to download on December 23, December 30, January 6, January 13, and January 20.

The first update taking place on December 23 will contain Ric Flair, Sheamus, Montez Ford, and surprisingly recent AEW signing Sting. Seemingly despite Sting’s WWE contract having expired seven months ago, he still has an agreement with 2K separately or signed on to appear in the game before departing. Also to come in the other updates are Diesel, Razor Ramon, Angelo Dawkins, Bret Hart, Sami Zayn, Chad Gable, Roddy Piper, Fandango, and AOP members Akam and Rezar, who also an unexpected inclusion considering they were let go by WWE three months ago.

While 2K has shared images of the upcoming wrestlers, as you can see in the below tweet, the three wrestlers no longer associated with WWE are noticeable by their absence. Sting’s name is also buried at the bottom of the list of names, which likely isn’t a coincidence.
