“Cowboy” Bob Orton Gives Update On Randy Following His Recent Back Surgery

Randy Orton was going to be Roman Reign’s SummerSlam opponent until his ongoing back injury became too much to bear. Subsequently, he was written off television at the hands of The Bloodline, and after attempting to rehab it, he had to undergo serious lower back fusion surgery. Therefore many fans have been concerned about his long-term future. However, his father, the legendary “Cowboy” Bob Orton has shared an update during a virtual signing for K&S WrestleFest, saying “he’s coming along. He’ll be back in there before you know it.

He’s coming along. I see him maybe once a week or so. But he’s coming along. He’ll be back in there before you know it.

How long 42-year-old Orton is set to miss remains unclear, yet anything less than six months would be miraculous. Therefore, anyone hoping to see him compete at WrestleMania 39 will almost certainly be disappointed. Although as whoever is the WWE / Universal Champion post-WrestleMania will need fresh opponents, it will allow a hopefully healthy Orton to step in as a top contender against either Roman Reigns or Cody Rhodes.
