Corey Taylor was interviewed Wednesday by SiriusXM’s Eddie Trunk, and he provided more details on Slipknot’s forthcoming album. Taylor said the album should be released within the next three months. “The record is actually in the process of being mixed right now,” Taylor said. “Everything is finished, so it’s just being mixed right now, which is rad news. So it’s probably gonna take … I think it’s probably gonna be another three months (before it’s released). The artwork’s done. We just came up with the title. I’m not gonna tell you it right now. But we’re really stoked. So hopefully three months from now — well, less than that — we’ll get the single out, and then three months from now we’ll get the album out.”

Taylor also commented on the direction of the album, which he says is heavier and more melodic than previous Slipknot offerings. “It’s really killer, man. It’s darker than ‘We Are Not Your Kind’, but there’s a ton of melody. I’ve been telling everybody that it’s like a heavier version of ‘Vol. 3[: (The Subliminal Verses)]’. It’s got so many textures and layers. The heavy stuff has attack but the melodic stuff you can just sink your teeth in; there’s a lot of great melodies and hooks. I’m really, really excited for people to hear it.”

Late last year, Slipknot released a new single, “The Chapeltown Rag.” The new record will be the first for the band since 2019’s “We Are Not Your Kind.” “It’s an expansion of where we were at on ‘We Are Not Your Kind,’” the singer said of the album last year. “This band has always prided itself on expanding boundaries, expanding our musical vision.” “There’s a couple of songs on here that people are gonna be, like… There’s definitely some pit openers that are gonna f*cking freak people out.” Slipknot also recently announced a 38-date tour of its “Knotfest Roadshow,” which features special guests In This Moment, Jinjer,  Cypress Hill and HO99O9.

“Trunk Nation with Eddie Trunk” airs weekdays from 2 to 4 p.m. on SiriusXM, and episodes are available on-demand on the SiriusXM app.
