The reconstituted lineup of Pantera has been making the rounds with numerous live shows. The band, which consists of surviving members Philip Anselmo and Rex Brown along with Zakk Wylde and Charlie Benante, was criticized by some for continuing the Pantera legacy. Founding members “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott and Vincent “Vinnie Paul” Abbott both passed away years ago.

Most fans, however, are loving that the new lineup is celebrating the legacy of the band’s incredible catalog of music. And one of their biggest fans is Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor.

“I saw it at Graspop,” Taylor told Eddie Trunk on his SiriusXM show.

“Because they were on right before us at Graspop just this year. And I hadn’t seen ’em, ’cause we were flying in and out, so I didn’t get to see them on that run, that South American run. And dude, me and (my wife) Alicia ran out to the front of house. And I didn’t even care. I was, like, ‘I’m watching this.’ And I was so stoked. And my expectations were really high, dude. And they sounded incredible. I was so stoked. There’s probably a bunch of fan-shot video of me singing along and jumping around like an idiot. I was so stoked, and they sounded so great. Dude, Phil looks great. He’s having a great time.”

Taylor continued: “We all know the story, and to see them get up there and to feel that positive energy that hasn’t been felt around that in so long, dude. I mean, I got really — I’m starting to get emotional about it now. I mean, it just felt really good to see our buddies up there — and this is absolute honesty — really doing justice. I mean, it sounds really, really good.”

Pantera are headlining a number of festivals all over the globe and will also support Metallica on select dates later this year and next.
