Controversial Former WWE Referee Checks Into Rehab

This weekend, former WWE referee Drake Wuertz, best known by his ring name Drake Younger, bravely announced on Instagram that he was checking into a rehabilitation facility. Precisely why he needs professional help wasn’t revealed, although he stated he was doing it for his wife and five children and that he needed to be “the best version of me for them.

39-year-old Wuertz retired from death match wrestling after signing with WWE in 2014 and looked set to have a long and successful career with the company. However, he was fired in 2021 following a series of incidents that saw him generate heat with management. These included missing an NXT taping due to arguing against children wearing masks at a school board meeting, using his WWE email address to organize activities for a conspiracy theory charity, and even walking out of a speech Triple H gave about Black Lives Matter.
