Confirmation Of Whether Chuck Taylor’s Career-Ending Injury Is Legitimate

Having not wrestled since October 2023 due to an unspecified injury, Chuck Taylor returned to action for a parking lot fight with former tag partner Trent Beretta two weeks ago. Yet, after he lost the match, Beretta attacked Taylor’s knee with a wrench, and Orange Cassidy subsequently announced on Dynamite that Taylor needed to retire.

Still, with this being pro wrestling, many assumed this was all part of a storyline, and Taylor would return sooner rather than later to get revenge.  However, Dave Meltzer has now reported in the latest issue of his Wrestling Observer Newsletter that not only is he legitimately hurt, but also the belief is “that Taylor won’t be able to wrestle again.

38-year-old Taylor began his wrestling journey at the age of 15 in 2002 and wrestled his first match the following year. From there, his career spanned multiple promotions, including Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, Evolve, TNA, ROH, and New Japan. And while it’s known he seriously considered retiring at one point due to a lack of success, his perseverance paid off when Tony Khan signed him for AEW’s launch.
