When Mercedes Moné Was Actually Medically Cleared To Resume Wrestling Has Been Confirmed

After months of speculation, the worst-kept secret in pro wrestling was unveiled on the March 13 “Big Bu$iness” themed episode of Dynamite when Mercedes Moné confirmed she was officially All Elite. Subsequently, the former WWE star would begin building up to her in-ring AEW debut against Willow Nightingale at this weekend’s Double or Nothing, with many believing the delay was due to her needing medical clearance following her broken ankle last year.

However, the New York Post has now confirmed that the former WrestleMania main eventer was cleared back in December, with Moné saying that Tony Khan wanted to “make sure that everything was lined up perfectly.

“She was medically cleared to wrestle in December and believes she’s in the best shape of her life for her AEW debut.”

32-year-old Moné walked out on WWE alongside her tag partner Naomi in May 2022, and after initially being suspended by the company, both eventually departed. Moné subsequently joined New Japan and wrestled for promotion in both the United States and Japan. Yet she has unfortunately been sidelined after suffering a broken ankle at NJPW STRONG Resurgence last May when wrestling her Double or Nothing opponent, Nightingale.
