Confirmation Of Santana’s Injury Status Following Blood & Guts

Last week AEW held their second Blood & Guts match, which was a massive hit with fans. Unfortunately, Santana clearly hurt his knee delivering a Uranage, and while being involved in the post-match celebration, it did seem the tag team specialist was impaired. Now while appearing on Busted Open Radio, AEW head honcho Tony Khan confirmed that Santana could be out for some time but added that he’d be standing by the AEW original and supporting him through the injury.

I did speak to him after, I know he’s injured. We’re going to stand by Santana, you know, support him through the injury and do what we can; it’s the right thing to do. Of course, hopefully, it won’t be too long, but I think it could be a relatively long injury, so it could be a while that Santana is out, but we’re here for him for whatever he needs and certainly appreciate everything he’s done for AEW.

Santana debuted for AEW on August 31, 2019, at All Out, alongside tag partner Ortiz attacking the Lucha Brothers and Nick Jackson. He, along with Ortiz, would then go on to join Chris Jericho’s Inner Circle faction and be featured in multiple high-profile matches on both television and pay-per-view. His career trajectory seemed to be on the rise when he and Ortiz broke away from Jericho and faced the former WWE star in a much-hyped hair vs. hair match on Dynamite last month. Now though, that momentum has come to a halt, with him potentially sidelined for some time.
