When Jeff Jarrett joined AEW in late 2022, it was noted that, in addition to being a wrestler, he also held an office role as Director of Business Development. However, Fightful Select has now reported that this is no longer the case, and he is now considered only an on-screen talent. Additionally, it’s noted that his wife, Karen Jarrett, works on a per-appearance basis. What this means for his long-term future with the company is currently unknown, but he is under contract until the end of 2026.
58-year-old Jarrett began his career in 1986 with his father’s Continental Wrestling Association and, within seven years, was wrestling for WWE. His greatest in-ring success, though, came in WCW, where he won the World Heavyweight Championship four times. From there, he ensured his historical significance by co-founding TNA in 2002, becoming a six-time NWA World Heavyweight Champion, and serving as a key on-screen figure. And while he hasn’t wrestled for his current employer, AEW, for almost exactly a year, he still takes occasional indie bookings.
