CM Punk’s Backstage Fight With The Elite Reportedly Wasn’t A Work & Legal Representatives Are Now Involved

AEW should be celebrating a home run, with All Out being a critical success. Yet, it appears the company is in turmoil after CM Punk’s comments at the post-show media scrum resulted in a physical altercation. And while details are still sketchy and constantly changing depending on the source, it’s claimed a thrown chair hit Nick Jackson and AEW producer Ace Steel, who is a longtime friend of Punk’s bit Kenny Omega.

Yet, despite this appearing so far-fetched, it has to be a storyline to build a match, Dave Meltzer has reported that this is not a work. Adding on the latest episode of his Wrestling Observer Radio show that legal representatives have gotten involved, which is why AEW hasn’t commented publicly.

It’s not a work. I can tell you, there’s legal people involved, a lot of legal situations involved, and it can be very messy. And I think that’s one of the reasons why AEW is not allowed to talk about it.

Dave Meltzer

If Meltzer is accurate, and the fight was real, this is an incredibly depressing situation, and it appears Tony Khan now has a big decision to make regarding who he keeps. However, given that Steel bit Omega, it seems inevitable he will be let go. And if he departs, considering he is one of the only friends Punk still has in the business, it seems certain Punk will follow him out the door. Which, given everything that’s occurred, could be for the best.
