CM Punk Resumes MMA Commentary Role (w/Video)

Due to an injury sustained at All Out, CM Punk is currently off AEW television and isn’t anticipated to make a comeback due to the backstage altercation that followed. However, he has returned to fans’ screens as on Thursday night, he did commentary for the MMA promotion Cage Fury Fighting Championships, which was broadcast on UFC Fight Pass. This seemingly indicates that Tony Khan was cool with him working outside of professional wrestling or that he already had it in his contract that he could work for CFFC, time permitting.

Before joining WWE, Punk occasionally worked as a color commentator for IWA-MS and Ring of Honor. He then continued to work as an announcer for WWE while injured, and most viewers remember him during this time for his quick wit and biting remarks proving he was a natural fit. So it came as no surprise when, while on his wrestling hiatus, he started working for the UFC affiliate CFFC in 2018, following his own disastrous fighting career. And with it now appearing, his wrestling career could be over for good, he has returned to the world of MMA, where he has yet to alienate the fanbase.
