Suzanne Somers, known best for her role as Chrissy Snow on the hit TV sitcom “Three’s Company,” passed away Sunday at the age of 76.
“Suzanne Somers passed away peacefully at home in the early morning hours of Oct. 15,” read a statement from her family. “She survived an aggressive form of breast cancer for over 23 years.”
“Suzanne was surrounded by her loving husband Alan [Hamel] , her son Bruce, and her immediate family,” the statement read. “Her family was gathered to celebrate her 77th birthday on Oct. 16. Instead, they will celebrate her extraordinary life, and want to thank her millions of fans and followers who loved her dearly.”
Somers starred on “Three’s Company” from 1977 to 1981. She was dropped from the show when she asked for a pay increase that would equal the pay of her male co-star, Jon Ritter.
Somers would later star in the ABC sitcom, “Step By Step,” alongside Patrick Duffy from 1991 to 1997.
KISS frontman Paul Stanley posted a tribute to Somers via Twitter which included a picture of himself, the late actress and FOZZY frontman and AEW star Chris Jericho.
“Suzanne Sommers… Having some laughs with her and Chris Jericho in 2016,” Stanley wrote. “She was a firecracker and her energy was like a ray of blinding sunshine. Rest Now.”
Jericho also took to social media to pay tribute saying: “On Valentines Day 2016, @paulstanleylive invited me to @clivejdavis annual #Grammy party at the #BeverlyHilton. While we were there we ran into @suzannesomers…Paul knew her, I didn’t.”
“But both of us couldn’t wait to take a picture with her…a true American Icon, who was super nice to me that night. Now If you don’t know Suzanne’s extensive career stats, you should. Not only was she a legendary actor who was fired from the biggest show in America for standing up for women’s equality, she was also a huge hit in #LasVegas with a residency that lasted 15 years, she wrote 27 books (14 of which were @nytimes bestsellers), and she sold over 10 MILLION #Thighmasters as the owner of the company!”
