The heavy metal world is still mourning the loss of the iconic Ozzy Osbourne. The Prince of Darkness is a 2-time Rock & Roll Hall of Famer both with Black Sabbath and as a solo artist, and his legacy played an enormous part in bringing heavy music to the masses.
Despite his health issues in recent years, Ozzy’s passing was still somewhat of a shock being that it happened just weeks removed from the Black Sabbath/Ozzy “Back To The Beginning” farewell concert which raised $190 million for charity making it the highest-grossing charity concert of all time.
According to The New York Times, Ozzy died of a heart attack. A death certificate indicates that Osbourne suffered from coronary artery disease and Parkinson’s disease. The document also states that Ozzy’s heart attack occurred “out of the hospital.”
The Daily Mail previously shared a statement from the Thames Valley Air Ambulance: “We can confirm that our helicopter was dispatched to provide advanced critical care at an incident near Chalfont St Giles.” Ozzy’s 85-year-old sister also told The Mirror: “He was frail but it still came as a shock. He still had plans and things he wanted to do. We don’t know the details of his death; it’s still too early. It’s just so sad. I’m just thankful he died in England.”
