Sadly last week, it was reported that Amen singer Casey Chaos passed away at the age of 59. Sporting a mix of nu metal, punk, hardcore and rock, Amen formed in the mid-’90s and had a bit of a major label push via both Roadrunner Records and Virgin.
Photographer Dean Karr, a close fried of Chaos, has taken to social media to reveal the cause of the singer’s death. Chaos’ mother found him passed away at his home in Laurel Canyon on Dec. 20 after he failed to answer the door. “She discovered Casey sitting on the floor with his back against the sofa and head tilted back,” Karr wrote. “He had suffered a massive heart attack. Casey had been dealing with heart issues, poor circulation, and high blood pressure for the last few years.”
“Regardless, we lost a great man/musician/friend/son. Casey proved to the industry to always be yourself — NO rules applied to this rock icon! Casey Chaos had also played bass in Christian Death with Rozz Williams and Rikk Agnew. Other bands include Disorderly Conduct and Scum.”
Amen’s upcoming album apparently features drum tracks from Dave Lombardo (Slayer, Misfits), Roy Mayorga (Stone Sour, Ministry) and Shannon Larkin (Godsmack). The album is reportedly being finished and will be the band’s first release since 2004’s “Death Before Musick.”
