Following Jon Moxley, Shota Umino, and Claudio Castagnoli’s failed attempt to win the NEVER Six-Man Tag Team titles from Kazuchika Okada, Hiroshi Tanahashi, and Tomohiro Ishii at this morning’s NJPW Dominion, Moxley would introduce a video by Bryan Danielson. In this video, filmed in a desert, Danielson would say for the past ten years, he has heard how great Okada is, and he was the litmus test for great—seemingly setting up the duo to compete at Forbidden Door on June 25, 2023.
For those unaware, Okada made his debut in 2004 and quickly rose through the ranks, capturing the IWGP Heavyweight Championship a record-setting five times. His matches, especially against the likes of Hiroshi Tanahashi and Kenny Omega, have been hailed as some of the best in professional wrestling history. Okada’s in-ring ability, charismatic presence, and dedication to his craft have solidified his status as one of the greatest wrestlers of his generation; therefore, his match with Danielson should be something worth going out of your way to witness.
