Bruce Dickinson Names The Most Underrated Iron Maiden Song
Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden.

Iron Maiden vocalist Bruce Dickinson is currently out on the road for his spoken word tour, and he’s answering questions from fans at each show. During his Tampa, Florida show, he named what he thinks is Iron Maiden’s most underrated song. “I’m a really big fan of ‘Total Eclipse,’” he said referring to the B-side of his debut single with the band, 1982’s “Run To The Hills.” Dickinson went on to explain that the track “Gangland” was originally slated to appear on the single’s B-side. However, the band had a change of heart. “That sounds great,” he said. “This is so good that we can’t do it as the B-side. ‘Gangland’ went on the album, and we actually forgot to mix the guitar solos. There’s a bit in there, and there’s no guitar solo. To this day, I think we forgot.”

Dickinson’s two month North American spoken-word tour started Jan. 17 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.  Iron Maiden’s 17th studio album, “Senjutsu”, was released in September. The band’s first LP in six years was recorded in 2019 in Paris with longstanding producer Kevin Shirley and was co-produced by bassist Steve Harris.

Earlier this month, Dickinson revealed details on his upcoming solo album, his first since 2005’s “Tyranny of Souls.” “I am obviously coming over to (America to) do the one-man show,” he told Loudwire. “When I get to the end of the one-man show thing at the end of March, then the idea is I’ve got about three weeks cooling my heels somewhere. I’ll lie down in a darkened room for a couple of days and recover from the tour and then put my singing head on and go and have a chat with Roy. ‘Cause we’ve already got a bunch of material, but we need to organize it a little bit.”
