In a new interview with 10,000 NOs, Braun Strowman disclosed that after pushing for two straight weeks to have a “Get These Hands” t-shirt made, the shirt ultimately sold approximately 500,000 units. This personally made him $565,000, as WWE paid him a 5% royalty, which works out at roughly $1.13 per shirt sold at full price. Additionally, the former WWE star claimed the shirt was the top-selling item “for a year and a half,” though this seems like an exaggeration, as it would mean he was moving more merchandise than Roman Reigns and John Cena.
“I had to fight tooth and nail for like 2 weeks to get them to do merch with it. It was the number one-selling piece of merch for a year and a half. 5%. I mean, $1.13 off of every t-shirt. When you sell half a million t-shirts.” – Braun Strowman
WWE merchandise has continued to break records and generate hundreds of millions of dollars since the 80s. Stone Cold Steve Austin’s legendary “Austin 3:16” T-shirt remains the all-time bestseller, with his 1998 peak alone delivering an estimated thirteen million dollars in a single year. Icons such as John Cena, The Rock, and Hulk Hogan dominated career sales through their massive global appeal, while today’s top stars, including Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes, and Rhea Ripley, lead the current charts with remarkable consistency.
