Classic rock legends Boston recruited singer Tommy DeCarlo back in 2007 following the passing of original lead vocalist Brad Delp. DeCarlo joined the band after posting cover versions of a few of Boston’s most well known songs to his MySpace page which he also sent to the band’s management.
Late last year, DeCarlo had to scrap plans for some of his own shows when it was discovered he had brain cancer. The singer unfortunately succumbed to the illness on Monday. He was 60 years old.
“It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our Dad, Tommy DeCarlo, on Monday, March 9th, 2026,” the family wrote on social media. “After being diagnosed with brain cancer last September, he fought with incredible strength and courage right up until the very end. During this difficult time, we kindly ask that friends and fans respect our family’s privacy as we grieve and support one another. Rest in peace, Dad. With love, Annie, Talia & Tommy Jr.”
In 2022, DeCarlo released his debut solo album, “Dancing In The Light,” and he also released a book “Unlikely Rockstar — The Tommy DeCarlo Story” in 2021.
