45-year-old Bobby Roode hasn’t competed for WWE since the 25th of June when he put over Omos on a house show. And with no specific news being reported as to why it just appeared he’d been lost in the shuffle. Now though, he has taken to Instagram and revealed in a series of photos the unfortunate news that he has been injured and recently underwent an orthopedic procedure at Southlake Orthopaedics in Birmingham, Alabama. He wouldn’t go into specific details but would thank his doctors for their care and said he was heading home to heal.
Heading home after what is hoped to be a successful trip to Birmingham AL. Big thank you to @southlakeortho and @andrews_sports_medicine for taking great care of me this week. Especially to the first class medical staff of Dr Micheal Ellerbusch, Dr Andrew Cordover and Dr Charles Carnel.
Roode departed TNA after 12 years and almost 800 matches in 2016 and somewhat surprisingly signed with WWE a few months later to be part of their NXT brand. He would go on to win the NXT Championship from Shinsuke Nakamura, becoming the oldest NXT champion in the process. Then following a seven-month reign that ended at the hands of Drew McIntyre, he would begin to transition to SmackDown while still wrestling NXT matches. Once on the main roster, he would become a solid midcarder holding the United States Championship before becoming a tag team competitor holding championship gold, first with Chad Gable and then Dolph Ziggler as The Dirty Dawgs.
