Big Bill Shares What He First Thought Of His New Name In AEW

AEW star Big Bill (real name: William Morrissey) talked to Chris Jericho via Talk Is Jericho recently about becoming part of The Learning Tree, his time in WWE and how he got sober after a long battle with addiction.

Big Bill was known as Big Cass in WWE where he successfully teamed with Enzo Amore in NXT and then on the main roster. He got a name change when he made the move to AEW, and the 38-year-old “Redwood” told Jericho what he initially thought of the new moniker. Jericho first said: “I remember Tony talking about you and he was like, ‘I’m thinking about bringing him in and I want to call him Big Bill. That’s the name, Big Bill.’ Alright, Big Bill it is.”

Morrissey responded: “My first week here, MJF told me, and a few people told me, ‘What do you think of the name Big Bill?’ At first, I was like, ‘I really don’t like that.’ They were like, ‘It was Tony’s idea, and Tony loves it.’ I said, ‘It’s fantastic.’”

Morrissey briefly held the AEW Tag Team titles with Ricky Starks before making the move to The Learning Tree. Listen to the full Talk Is Jericho interview with Big Bill here
