Belief William Regal Has Unique Agreement With AEW That Allows Him To Return To WWE

Rumors have been swirling in recent days regarding William Regals’ AEW future. So when he was apparently written off their television on Wednesday night’s Dynamite after being struck by MJF, it appears there is was truth to these. And now, while speaking on Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez has told his viewers that the belief among his WWE contacts is that when Regal signed with AEW, it was agreed that should Triple H ever get into power at WWE, he’d be allowed out of his deal. Which, if true, shows that Regal had incredible foresight, and his WWE return will be imminent.

The belief among people within WWE is that when he signed with AEW, he essentially had an agreement where if Triple H returns to power, he can go back to WWE. And Triple H is now back in power. The belief within WWE is that is what is going on.

Regal’s initial WWE run was catastrophic due to his drug addictions taking over his life. However, after WWE rehab and a brief spell in WCW, he would get re-signed and become the star fans know him as today, holding multiple championships and winning the King of the Ring. Perhaps more significantly, though, he became a coach and helped develop many of the stars currently on WWE television. So that, combined with his friendship with Triple H, is likely why he is open to returning, should Tony Khan allow him out of his deal, or this clause exists.
