During a recent interview with Billboard.com, Becky Lynch was asked who she would want to wrestle from another promotion, and somewhat surprisingly named someone not from a WWE-related promotion like TNA or AAA, but AEW’s Toni Storm. Lynch would express disappointment at never having wrestled her while they were both employed by WWE and suggested they could have a Hell in a Cell match after first considering a Dublin Street fight.
30-year-old Storm, born in New Zealand and raised in Australia, began wrestling in 2009, honing her skills in the UK with Progress Wrestling, becoming its first women’s champion, and in Japan with Stardom, capturing the World of Stardom title. This led her to WWE from 2017 to 2021, but when she was finally called up to the main roster, she felt unappreciated and lost her passion for the product, leading her to fly herself home. This led some fans to question whether she had a future in the business, though all doubts disappeared when she joined AEW in 2022 and blended her ring work with dramatic old-school Hollywood flair.
