B.J. Whitmer Sentenced Following Domestic Violence Arrest

On June 4th, 2023, B.J. Whitmer was arrested by the Boone County Sheriff’s Department on charges of first-degree strangulation and second-degree burglary against his ex-girlfriend. Subsequently, he was released on a $25,000 bond and fired by AEW, where he worked as a producer.

And now it has been reported by journalist B.J. Bethel that the former wrestler took an Alford plea, which means he maintains his innocence but accepts there is enough evidence to convict him. This has resulted in him being sentenced to five years probation and 120 days of house arrest.

46-year-old Whitmer last competed in 2017, retiring due to spinal stenosis, and is best known for his time in Ring of Honor, where he was a four-time tag team champion. He has, though, wrestled for countless other promotions, most notably NOAH in Japan and WWE’s then-developmental territory HWA, where he was twice their Heavyweight Champion.
